Back in the NHS

Another visit to Frenchay hospital for an operation on my right elbow and left ankle results in a night in hospital, as a precaution to an acid reflux related incident during the operation…they want to be sure I haven’t melted my lungs!

As far as I know the operations went to plan – I was in recovery for two hours as they sorted out a bed for the night. So until the god-like consultants descend to let me know I’ll assume metal wire was removed and scar tissue smoothed as planned.

I was meant to be home having cups of tea made for me by nurse Rach and Bailey curled up beside me purring. For the moment cups of tea still made for me but NHS smocks, curtains and pee bottles are the unfortunate but familiar surroundings.

I’m currently tingling but hopefully the codeine will kick in soon…
