Flare with the lens

I was out on the weekend, pre snow storm that ground the country to a halt as always – a lovely frosty morning. I’d just taken out the NEX 5N & Minolta M-Rokkor 40mm lens, as I wasn’t out for long, and wanted more practice with the manual lens. No earth shattering global events took place along the river walk, so no Sony photographic awards will be handed out for my efforts, but we take what we can take and enjoy finding art in the everyday. One such thing happened with a few shots I took and noticed how I was getting lens flare on the screen when stopped down to F2 or so. Normally, you want to avoid it, but I could see how the colours were being created at certain angles. So, set up to take three exposures for an HDR image, I was able to capture some of the extreme highlights and refracting colours. Like summer on a winters day.
