Sign of Spring

Visiting Painswick today in a bright but brusk day, we stumbled (in my case literally…) upon The Royal oak pub, which served up an interesting pale ale, only available for 3 weeks of the year, and has the unique selling point of being green. This, I was told was due to harvesting the hops early, so they retain the springtime colour. Looks like washing up liquid, tastes like a fine beer.

For the technically minded hop heads, here’s a message from the brewer, Stonehenge Ales: Brewed at OG 1044 and ABV 4.6%. A light green, incredibly smooth and very drinkable beer, rich in both malt and hop aroma. Specially brewed for springtime (beer) lovers.
